Be Wowed by the Winter Cathedral at Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden

Back

03 December 2021

If you think the Chicago Botanic Garden powers down after the sun sets, think again. Quite the opposite. In honor of the holiday season, Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden is back—and it’s bringing a dazzling display of voltage that’s never been seen before. Although the event unfolds every year, the path and light displays are always different, so expect the unexpected.

Tickets sold out for most nights last year, meaning it’s imperative that you book yours in advance in order to be part of the festivities! When you arrive on your designated date, start in the sing-along forest where colorful trees light up in sync with holiday tunes. Then check out Lightscape’s version of a zen garden, which features a steel structure hung with small pits of flickering flames. And whatever you do, don’t miss the Winter Cathedral. Its illuminated white arches soar overhead, promising perhaps the perfect photo op.
The Lightscape trail will remain open until January 2nd, and adult tickets start at $24. If you don’t want to stick to a strict arrival time, a flex ticket will allow you to come at any time during opening hours on a given day.
