There’s nothing quite like summertime in Chicago. From Pitchfork to Lollapalooza, the season is filled with festivals that bring people from all across the country to the Windy City. Since you’re lucky enough to live here, you probably participate in your fair share of them every summer. To kick off a few months of festing, head to Mayfest in Lincoln Park!

Previously a block party held in Lakeview, this week-long festival now sets up shop every year in the beating heart of Lincoln Park—at the intersection of Armitage and Sheffield. Hop the Brown Line and walk less than a block to join in the fun on May 20th, 21st, or 22nd. Live music from local bands will, of course, be the cornerstone of the festival. But you can also expect cold craft beers (some of them made right here in the city) and hot food to enjoy along the way. Local artisans and other Chicago-area vendors will create an eclectic retail area where you can shop for gifts, household essentials, and more. Admission is donation-based, with $15 cash recommended (at the gate only).
